Food & Wine
Try Mendo Bistro’s three-course mushroom dinner. Main Street at Redwood in Ft Bragg.
If heading south on the 128, stop at Navarro, Toulouse, Londer, Foursight, or Meyer Family Wines for nice people and great wines.
Outdoors
Just north of Mendocino Village by 2 miles is Russian Gulch State Park. Walk three miles up the trail to a nice waterfall.
Or walk the trail across from Glendeven to the headlands and watch the big rolling waves today.
If here tomorrow, plan to join the Botanical Garden staff mycologist on a Monday walk for mushrooms throughout the Garden. Staff Naturalist/Gardener, Mario Abreu, or Plant Recorder/Gardener, Kristi Van Wert, will lead mushroom walks every Monday, November 2nd thru January 25th at the Garden. Mushroom identification, biology, edibility, myths and the good times that all come along with a mushroom walk will be included. Warning: exposure to the mushroom world can be habit-forming!
If heading south on the 128, stop at Hendy Woods State park (turn right up Greenwood Philo Road) and walk amongst old growth redwoods. A worthwhile stop.
