Culture
Join docents from the Kelley House Museum for a stroll around the historic village of Mendocino, passing by early pioneer homes, historic meeting places and buildings that make up the National Historic District. Every Saturday at 11 am for about two hours. Cost: $10 per person.
Wine & Food
Stop by Mendocino Chocolate Company in Fort Bragg (232 N Main St, 10am-5:30pm) or Mendocino (Ukiah Street east of Lansing 11am-5:30pm) for free tastes of their wonderful Truffles, Originals or Fudge.
Driving south on the 128, stop at Navarro, Toulouse, Londer or Meyer Vineyards for nice people and good wine.
Outdoors
Walk Jug Handle State Natural Reserve and see five different forest zones in one walk. Located just north of Caspar on Highway 1.
And be sure to walk to the headlands directly across the road from Glendeven. Go to the end then walk north along the cliff. You won’t be sorry you did!
If heading south on the 128, stop at Hendy Woods State Park (turn right up Greenwood Philo Road) and walk amongst old growth redwoods. A worthwhile stop.
